Monasterium PoortAckere

A hotel stay in a former monastery

Hotel Monasterium PoortAckere is housed in the buildings of a neo-Gothic monastery that was built in the second half of the 19th century. In 1998 the complex was listed as national heritage. After lots of renovations which took account of the atmosphere and character of the former monastery, the Monasterium opened as a hotel with restaurant and seminar centre.

Stay in all peace and quiet in the city centre of Ghent. The striking architecture with lots of wood and high ceilings creates a unique atmosphere. The agreeable courtyard is an oasis of calm and an additional asset.

Spacious and charming rooms in an historic building

The rooms are spread over four buildings. The comfort rooms are in the Maagdenvleugel (Virgins’ Wing). The superior rooms are in the Slot (Castle) at the garden side. The standard rooms are on the street side in the Breedhuis (Wide House) and the Huis van de Rector (Rector’s House). We also have a few family rooms where six persons can stay.

And there is also gasthof PoortAckere, with 13 authentic monastery cells, which can be booked as single guest rooms.

All rooms have:

  • Free WIFI
  • Equipped with satellite TV / Flatscreen
  • Coffee and tea making facilities
  • Telephone
  • Bathroom with tub or shower and hair dryer (except in the Gasthof)
